So I'm going to be 29 on Friday. 29! One more year in my twenties, I can't believe it. One funny tradition I have is watching my favorite movie, "Sixteen Candles" and eating cake for breakfast (thanks Mom!)
I can remember most of my birthday's if not all of them. Birthday's in my family are by far one of the most important things in the year. When I was a kid I would wake up and run to the family room, my mom would decorate the room with balloons, streamers and banners. All the presents would be laid out and it was a day that you ruled the house. The funny thing is, there were many many times were I was convinced that I wanted to go and watch Steve or Nik play in Baberuth baseball games. I didn't want anything to do with it, but would end up going anyways. There was my 10th birthday I forced my entire family to go and see "What About Bob." I was so mad the movie wasn't that good, and boy did I hear all about it afterwards. My 15th Birthday it snowed, and my 20th birthday I was in Mexico. I have only been away from my family on my birthday and ironically it was my 21st. I was living in San Sebastian at the time. It was such a great day, I woke up to flowers that my wonderful roommate Kelsey got me, took a final and then went out to dinner. It wasn't the typical 21st because I had been drinking legally for 8 months. HA! But it was a great birthday!
I'm very grateful for all of the things I have been given in the 29 years of my life. I look forward to many many more birthdays. I hope that I am able to achieve all the life long goals I have set out for myself, keep my wit and be able to travel around the world. But most of all, I look forward to passing on the great Elmore/Kosach tradition of making everyone who is in my life feel like the day they were born was one of the most amazing things to have occurred, because its true.
