Months 13 and 14 were total blurs.....hence the non existent post...
Around 12.5 months Ian started to walk and he hasn't looked back. Now we have a half runner, full climber of the furniture, dancing around the house while chit chatting boy.
We've had a few little bumps in the road, Ian was hit with chronic ear infections in both ears so the doctor thought it would be best for him to have tubes put in. When the doctor was all done with the surgery he assured us that it was the right decision as Ian had a lot of fluid in his ear. We decided to do the ear tube surgery sooner rather than later because we were set to fly to Kauai that coming weekend. I'm very glad we had the tubes put in for the flight, but unfortunately the tubes didn't seem to help all the much when it came to avoiding ear infections.
Our trip to Kauai wasn't the best. The first day were were there, we received a phone call that Grandma Ottosen had passed away. She was such a wonderful woman and both Sam and I were very upset of her passing. She had an amazing life and I am very grateful that we were able to visit with her last summer and she was able to meet Ian. The trip came with 2 visits to the urgent care, one for Ian and one for Sam. Ian of course hit with an ear infection and Sam getting very sick with a virus, we can safely say it was not a trip to remember. BUT we had a wonderful time spending it with my parents and Ian loved being the center of attention with 4 of his favorite people. He loved chasing the chickens around and watching them eat bread and seeds. We also were able to see some pretty amazing sunsets and a few whales.
As soon as we got home I started my new job with National Council Family Court Judges. It is a non-profit that trains Judges on important topics like Juvenile Sex Trafficking, Child Neglect and Sexual Abuse...hard topics but I feel that NCJFCJ makes a difference! It has been a little bit of an adjustment going from Corp. world to non-profit world, but I think I made the right choice!
Sam has been working really hard to help Reno get back on track. He has been working some long hours but it seems to have helped a lot. He has been able to play golf and he has been really good about training for the half marathon we both have in July. I on the other hand have been hit with every kind of sickness and haven't been able to run as much as I SHOULD. I will get back on track and I will hit my goals this year!
Like I said it has been a whirl-wind couple of months...but enjoying every second!
