Lent:Give up something? How about doing a random act of kindness (RAK)?

After the Christmas season I read a blog of a women who for the entire month of December did a random act of kindness (RAK), whether it was paying someones paytoll, putting spare change into someone's parking meter, or going to the food bank and volunteering her time.  She did something every 31 days to help someone else.  She would tape something on their car or pass the message along that is was a simple act of kindness and she also requested that they pay it forward and do a RAK to a total stranger as well.  I really liked this idea and thought "next year, I'm going to do this!"
Well I don't want to wait until Christmas!  Instead of giving something up I decided to take something on,  for the next 40 days, I will attempt to do a RAK.  It doesn't really have to be a stranger, or of monetery value, the goal is to put a smile on someone's face and make them feel like the world isn't full of bad and that every once in awhile something good out of the blue can and will happen.  Now, I have to admit, this is also to help me, I have noticed that everytime I have done a RAK in the past, I get a rush of excitement, almost as if a cloud was lifted from me, but I think God will understand that its because I like doing nice things for people.

I will try and update this as much as possible with a list of the days and what I did.  Your feedback and ideas are greatly appreciated!  It can be anything as long as it's a good deed and it puts a smile on someone else's face.

WISH ME LUCK!

WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!

Man!  All sorts of amazing and great things are happening right now that I just can't handle not being able to share!  Our loan was approved and we closed on the 31st!!! It only took since October 27th for this to happend! We are SO so so excited.

Once we got the keys in our hands we hit the ground running! It wasn't with a little bit of heart burn since they took the fridge without us knowing, but we got lucky and found one!

The first thing we did, we got rid of the popcorn ceilings in the family room and two spare bedrooms.  Sam did about 98% of it while I squirted water and made jokes!  The next step was to texture the ceilings and clean the walls as well as the kitchen because it was GROSS!  All weekend long we scrubbed, scrapped, complained (mostly me) and sweat.  But it was all worth it!  The carpet was ripped out on Monday and the painter started on Monday.  It already looks like a totally different house.

Here are a few before pictures....BTW the furniture is NOT ours....

The entire house is being painted and should be done today!  The carpet is being installed tomorrow, Sammy and I are making our move starting Saturday with hopes that our first night sleep over is on Saturday!  I will post of video of the before and after later.....
