Yep! That's right! I have a very funny yet very serious physical reaction to the thought of pop sickle sticks. Really its any kind of wood stick! Wooden spoons, tongue dispensers and even the wooden pencils. I have no idea where or when this became a phobia of mine. But I can always remember getting the chocolate and vanilla malts (at the baseball park) and refusing to use those wooden spoons they give you, I would just lick it out of the cup.
My mom always teases me about this phobia and every chance she gets she will slowly lick the stick from the pop sickle that she is eating very very slowly. I have an instant physical reaction.
The best part, I'm not the only one!!! A couple of years ago Lydia and I were making homemade pizza, (I of course have all the equipment necessary to look like a true pizza maker, I have the pizza oven stone, the pizza cutter and the pizza tray that has the really long handle and that is made out of wood. I always have to wrap a towel around it so I don't touch the rough wood....) while making the pizza with Lydia I noticed that she would never touch the pizza tray, I laughed and asked her why and she explained that she totally get the chills when she touches rough wood! I laughed so hard and explained to her that I TOO had this issue. We had a good laugh about and then made someone else get the pizza out of the oven with the tray, we also made them wash it!
What triggered this thought today was watching Sam eat a pop sickle last night. I wanted to run away after watching him lick the pop sickle stick! It then made me think, who else that I know, has a strange phobia?
